Circular Photogalvanic Spectroscopy of the Giant Rashba Splitting in 2D Hybrid Organic-Inorganic Perovskites
Jan. 16, 2020
Measurements of the Rashba splitting is an essential component of controlling Rashba splitting.
Scientific Achievement
We have confirmed and diagnosed the giant Rashba splitting in the band structure of 2D hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (HOIP) using the circular photogalvanic effect (CPGE) spectroscopy.
Significance and Impact
The occurrence of Rashba splitting in the continuum bands has profound influence on the photocarriers dynamics, spintronics, and optical properties of these HOIP compounds.
Research Details
- Using the action spectrum of the CPGE, we have obtained the Rashba splitting energy to be ~ 40 meV
- We have also discovered the existence of spin photogalvanic effect associated with the excitons in these HOIP compounds
